What is Upside Down Youth? Well, the answer is found here in Acts 17 (New King James Version)
Preaching Christ at Thessalonica
1 Now when they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where there was a synagogue of the Jews. 2 Then Paul, as his custom was, went in to them, and for three Sabbaths reasoned with them from the Scriptures, 3 explaining and demonstrating that the Christ had to suffer and rise again from the dead, and saying, “This Jesus whom I preach to you is the Christ.” 4 And some of them were persuaded; and a great multitude of the devout Greeks, and not a few of the leading women, joined Paul and Silas.
5 But the Jews who were not persuaded, becoming envious,[a] took some of the evil men from the marketplace, and gathering a mob, set all the city in an uproar and attacked the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people. 6 But when they did not find them, they dragged Jason and some brethren to the rulers of the city, crying out, “These who have turned the world upside down have come here too. 7 Jason has harbored them, and these are all acting contrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying there is another king—Jesus.” 8 And they troubled the crowd and the rulers of the city when they heard these things. 9 So when they had taken security from Jason and the rest, they let them go.
Let’s look at verse 6, “These who have turned the world upside down have come here too.” Now, what was happening? Paul was preaching the Gospel as was his custom to the Jews. The Gospel Paul was preaching was that Jesus Christ is the Messiah. Jesus is the one sent by God to die and rise again for the forgiveness of sins. Therefore, a great multitude was added in number by the Gospel being preached. Then, the Jews became envious taking innocent men before the city officials saying that they had been turning the world upside down with the Gospel. There was no fault found in those men and they were let go. The point I’m trying to make here is that the Gospel will turn the world upside down. It is our church’s desire that this generation of young people will go forth being trained in the essential classical truths of the faith from generation to generation. My prayer is that God will use them mightily for his Kingdom advance not for personal gain and success but to reflect God’s glory and grace. Our desire is to see young people who are educated in what the Scripture says according to its historical context. We desire to see our young people defend and contend for the faith. It is the Gospel that changes lives. For those who have turned the world upside down have come here too.
