The past seven years have been an amazing blessing to our family. It is here we were married, where our children were born and dedicated, and where we began our ministry assignments. This church holds for us a lot of great memories. We have served here faithfully from June 2002 to the present. Emily and I have worked hard with the youth, children and adults of this church, giving our time, support and energy. And although we have been through trials and success, both have caused growth in us personally and spiritually. Everyone here has played a part in our spiritual growth. We are forever grateful to Pastor Bayles, Chris Van Slyke and to the Church for the support you all have constantly given to us and for allowing us the opportunity to serve in this capacity.
To give some background, I have been attending RTS DC for almost two years part time along with my ministry and family responsibilities. It has been a tremendous blessing and I have grown so much through my education experience.
I was called into ministry at 14 and I know I am called to be a lead pastor. For me to achieve my ministerial goal, a Master’s of Divinity is a requirement in most denominational circles. This coupled with my ministry experience will make me a candidate to serve in that capacity.
After much prayer and discussion with my family and church leadership team, I have decided to resign from my youth pastor position, so that I can pursue seminary full time. I am going to transfer to RTS Orlando for the Fall of 2009. Our family is excited for this new adventure. Please pray for us as we are trying to sell our home in Germantown and as we make this transition to a new area.
As our youth group name is Upside Down Youth, know that it is the Gospel that truly turns the world upside down, “These who have turned the world upside down have come here too.” Acts 17:6 (NKJV)
Please feel free to stay in touch. I would love to hear about what God is doing in your lives in the future.
