Chris Tomlin Concert

My apologies for not getting this up earlier. But I’ve had some cable issues at my house recently. But anyways, I digress.

So, a nice group of us attended the Chris Tomlin concert which also featured Matt Redman and Louie Giglio.

Let me say it was a great time. Here’s what I love about going to Chris Tomlin’s concerts. He makes sure to make it a worship service. Here’s the difference some concerts you are there to be entertained. This is of course understandable because that is the reason you are going. However, I like to attend his concert for another focus. He wants you to praise God while you are there. I appreciate this about his concerts.

Tomlin started with Made to Worship and Forever. Matt Redman came out and played Blessed be your Name. Then, he played Yes and Amen from his new Beautiful News album. I highly reccomend that cd if you haven’t already purchased it. I wanted to hear Redman play the song Stars but it did not happen. Oh well, maybe next time around. Tomlin came back out and ran down several of the new songs such as How can I keep from Singing, Everlasting God, Let God Arise, Glorious. One of the songs I wished Chris would have done was Uncreated One but hey you can’t sing them all.

Then, Louie Giglio shared a nice talk. It was similar to his Indescribable message from last year’s tour. He focused on the creation of God talking about the galaxies and the sun. He compared the earth to a golf ball and had equations for how many golf balls it would take to fill up the size of the sun and other stars on other galaxies. It’s a great visual presentation that makes you understand that God is control and has created the universe. If he can do all that how much more can God take care of the issues the people in the crowd were facing. One of the other anecdotes he used was what holds the human body together. He learned this from a microbiologist that he met in the crowd after one of his talks. Laminine is what holds the human body together. It so happens that the shape of laminine is the exact same shape as the cross. Check it out on google images. If you don’t believe him.

Chris and Matt came back out and played Dancing Generation from Matt Redman’s Facedown cd, We Fall Down, How Great is our God and Glory in the Highest. He also did Amazing Grace (My Chains are gone). That’s a great song. He added a nice chorus and a verse to the great classic Amazing Grace. They ended the concert on a very heartfelt worshipful moment. They did not come back out for an encore but no encore was necessary.

For me to pick favorite songs would be tough cause I like them all. The songs that stuck out were Glory in the Highest as well as My Chains are gone. Overall, it was a great experience. If you haven’t gone to any of his concerts check him out and make sure and buy “See the Morning Comes” cd. You will not be disappointed.

Jesus replied, “If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.

We are all meeting at the church at 4pm. Bring money for fast food. Hope you are all excited about it. Should be a great time.
